In 1994, Deborah began her company with one employee (herself), operating out of a spare room. Now 200+ employees strong, DWA Healthcare Communications Group and its affiliate companies Avant Healthcare and Forefront Collaborative are recognized as leading lights in the mission to improve patient care.With more than 20 years of experience in healthcare marketing, education, and communications, preceded by 10 years in senior management with Fortune 500 companies, Deborah is highly recognized in the industry for her visionary leadership and innovation and the success of her entrepreneurial endeavors. Avant Healthcare was recognized in both 2012 and 2013 as one of the top 100 healthcare marketing agencies in North America by Medical Marketing & Media magazine—the only Indiana- based business to make the list. Avant Healthcare is certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council and its parent company, DWA Healthcare Communications Group, is ranked third among the Top 25 Woman-Owned Businesses in Indiana. Deborah brings the same passion for her work to the community where she lives and operates. Employees lead an internal charitable initiative and have supported a variety of causes nationally and around the Indianapolis metropolitan area. Her company is recognized as a United Way campaign supporter, and Deborah serves as a member of the United Way Women’s Leadership Council. She is the President of the Board of Directors for St. Vincent Carmel Hospital, a member of the Board of Directors for the Diversity Alliance for Science, Inc. (DA4S), serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors for The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, and is a board member for The Alliance—A Forum of Indiana Business Leaders. She is also a member of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council and the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association. In 2014, Deborah received the Starkey Entrepreneurial Woman Award, which recognizes women business leaders who exemplify the spirit of success, teamwork, and leadership.
A certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Deborah earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Evansville (Indiana) and her Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Nebraska.
