Dear members, colleagues, and friends,
Last year, we celebrated our 10th year anniversary! Over the past decade, Diversity Alliance for Science has evolved to a mature, respected national platform, bringing together corporations and suppliers, offering development and business opportunities. We started our journey toward growth and transformation a couple of years ago, with the goal of becoming a world-class organization within the life science industry, delivering maximum value to its members. As a result, we developed our new strategy, objectives, and supporting infrastructure.
That foundation, coupled with your input and feedback from surveys and evaluations, helped us to make tremendous progress in 2017. We further defined and clarified membership eligibility to expand our member pool; we were able to provide numerous opportunities for members to engage and actively participate in our committee structures; we diligently worked on strengthening our financial status through proactive planning; we improved our infrastructure in support of a year-round business; we incorporated further discipline into our processes by developing necessary policies; we measured and baselined our effectiveness; and last but not least, we brought additional skill sets to our Board of Directors to increase our organizational effectiveness.
As 2018 marks the start of a new decade for us, we are thrilled to roll out our new brand and logo that reflect our progress and destination to become a world-class organization. We are progressing to the next level of maturity with clear objectives to:
- improve member experience
- recruit new members
- add more members to our committee structure
- fully transform into a year-round organization, rather than only conference-focused
- increase member retention by providing greater value, and
- improve our technology platforms and tools supporting our mission while we continue to measure and improve organizational effectiveness.
We will continue focusing on garnering your input to ensure we are making a difference in your journey. Our Board of Directors and committees have diligently prepared an exciting year for you. I would like to thank them for their hard work and you for your support and participation. Throughout this coming year, I ask you to stay engaged, leverage this opportunity to create new connections, nurture existing ones, and keep us accountable and proactive in shaping our future.
