John Bys has been working with Industry Initiatives and Public Sector for several decades, with experience in evolving technology for supply chains, sustainability best practices, and IT security programs. His passion for the outdoors, hiking and concern for the environment gave him the opportunity to combine his skills and passion into a career at EcoVadis where he helps organizations drive their vision of a more sustainable future.

Peggy DelFabbro
Peggy Del Fabbro assumed the role of CEO of M. Davis & Sons in 2008, having served in leadership positions in the company for over 20 years. Peggy is the 5th generation of the Davis family leading M. Davis & Sons, now in their 154th year in business. Peggy works to distinguish the construction company in the marketplace through an unwavering commitment to safety and quality and a forward-thinking approach to sustainability and the future of construction.
In 2009 Peggy pursued certification as a Woman Owned Business by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (“WBENC”) to set her company apart. Peggy promotes diversity by participating in various roles to support WBENC and is currently the Women’s Enterprise Forum Chair. Peggy has received numerous awards both regionally and nationally for her leadership in the WBE community:

Joyce Eggers
Joyce Eggers is a passionate Supplier Diversity expert with over 20 years of experience in the Life Sciences industry. As the global Supplier Diversity Lead for Takeda Pharmaceuticals, a top 10 pharmaceutical company with 50,000 employees in nearly 80 countries, Joyce is responsible for providing the leadership for Takeda to grow and develop a sustainable diversity, equity, and inclusion program for suppliers.
Supported by and aligned with Takeda’s overall DE&I strategy, her expertise and passion for fostering an inclusive and innovative supply chain drive positive impact in the communities in which our patients, employees, and customers live and work.
In her role, Joyce also serves as an advocate, mentor, and coach for small and diverse suppliers and is actively involved with numerous advocacy groups focusing on supplier mentoring, development, and diversity.

A growth-oriented individual, Jennifer led the agency to a 22% increase in its CSR score in less than two years, achieving EcoVadis Platinum status. Proving the power of small business sustainability, Jennifer took the agency from a standard donation to CarbonFund.org to offsetting 421% of its GHC emissions through additional relationships with ClimateHero and Aclymate.
Her leadership and achievements made XCH a role model for small business sustainability resulting in Jennifer’s appointment as XCH’s Sustainability Executive in November of 2022.
Dexter Gould
Dexter J. Gould, Jr. serves as a Senior Director, Legal Counsel at Dexcom, where he and his team of attorneys and paralegals have worldwide responsibility to support the organization’s Operations, R&D and IT business units. He joined Dexcom in 2020 as a Director of Legal Affairs.
Dexter’s 20+ years of progressive legal experience includes representing Owens & Minor (a leader in the distribution of medical devices to the acute space) as an Assistant General Counsel. Prior to that he worked as an integral member of McKesson Medical-Surgical Legal Team. Before deciding to move in-house and then spending over five years in a counsel role with Sprint Corporation (eventually acquired by T-Mobile), he advised clients in the Richmond, Virginia area for a combined eight years at two well-respected law firms. Dexter began his legal career as an associate at McGuireWoods (a Richmond headquartered global law firm) where he guided large public entities on corporate matters.
Dexter earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction from the University of Virginia.
Shannon Jackson
Mr. Shannon Jackson was appointed as the Director of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) in November 2021. Mr. Jackson is responsible for implementing the Department’s small business procurement programs across the HHS portfolio valued at $9.4 billion in procurements, awarding contracts each year to small businesses.
Mr. Jackson comes to HHS with a wealth of experience and is joining us from the Department of Defense (DoD) Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP) where he served in various roles to include Acting Director of OSBP, Deputy Director of OSBP, and Associate Director for the DoD Mentor Protégé Program and Senior Advisor to the Director of the DoD OSBP. Mr. Jackson has served over 29 years in the federal government and has held various leadership positions throughout his career, to include his military service retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army. Mr. Jackson led a network of 700 full- and part-time small business professionals across the DoD. Noteworthy is that the work of DOD’s small business workforce results in more than $50 billion in prime contract spending on contracts to small businesses and over $40 billion in subcontract spending for small businesses annually.
Mr. Jackson began his acquisition career with the U.S. Army successfully. He was certified as a Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Program Manager Level III and Level II Contracting. Mr. Jackson has completed several executive level training courses in leadership throughout his career to include certifications from the University of Chicago and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He holds an undergraduate degree in history from Virginia State University, a master’s degree in business administration from Nichols College and a master’s degree in procurement and acquisition from Webster University.
Barry Kull
A forward thinking and transformational leader, Barry has a focused career in procurement where he has been able to organizations of various sizes and industry through all stages of change in an effort to create a more efficient environment where cost savings are realized in parallel with an increase in the quality of the experience, results and supplier relationships.
Having worked as both a consultant and directly in the healthcare industry for over 20 years, he has gained a deep perspective on spend categories across the indirect space including marketing & sales, professional services and IT and how they enable organizations. He has developed a passion for supplier diversity as an untapped competitive advantage for companies that not only does the right thing, it drives savings and innovation for all involved.
Lisa Miller
Lisa is a seasoned professional with 20+ years of professional experience in Vendor Diversity, Relationship and Contract Management across various industries, including Government, Finance, Media, and Life Sciences, holding a Bachelor of Science in Communication from Southern CT State University.
Having joined AstraZeneca in 2017, Lisa has contributed to numerous acquisitions while leading initiatives and implementations across all business units. Progressing from overseeing US Contingent Workforce and Direct Sourcing solutions, she now holds the position of Government Subcontract Compliance Manager.
In addition to Lisa’s professional and academic credentials, she has had the honor of receiving various awards and recognitions over the course of her career, including but not limited to President’s Award for Outstanding Leadership, Inavero Institute Platinum Award for Outstanding Service and AstraZeneca’s HR Special Recognition Award for 2022 and 2023.
Monica Mockus
Monica is the Founder and CEO of mock5 design, an independent, diverse-certified creative agency that collaborates with clients in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. She founded mock5 in 2014 with a vision to serve as a trusted creative partner to her clients.
With a background in healthcare consulting and design, Monica leverages a powerful combination of research and design expertise to quickly identify and adapt to client needs. Driven by values of collaboration, innovation, and possibility, she leads her team to produce deliverables that meet both agency and regulatory requirements, resulting in a straightforward and efficient process for clients.
Recently, Monica completed a year-long mentorship with global biotechnology company Genentech. In 2022, Monica completed the CapitalOne Catapult Program, an intensive, five-month transformational learning journey designed to enable innovation by developing a proprietary solution to a business challenge. She was also chosen to represent mock5 in the DA4S Eight That Innovate competition.
Monica recently completed a Human-Centered Strategy Certificate from IDEO U.
Amanda Mortimer
Amanda Mortimer became Managing Member of Innovative Development in 2019. She is a 2nd generational business leader after joining the company 12 years ago. Innovative Development has been supporting the Life Sciences community for over 25 years nationally and globally with offices in the US and UK. Their experience supporting Life Sciences in multiple stages of drug development – Clinical, Product Commercialization and Legal solutions – enable them to provide unique perspective to improve business processes.
With a background in Human Resources Amanda is passionate about cultivating employee relationships anchored in collaboration, passion, and innovation to create and deliver tailored solutions to their clients. As a supplier in Life Sciences, Innovative Development’s ultimate goal is to support clients so they can focus on their core goals of creating life changing medicines to save patients’ lives.
Amanda is the WBEC East NextGen Committee Chair and Women in Bio Mentorship Associate.
Carlton Oneal
Carlton L. Oneal is the President of LightSpeedEdu, Inc., a privately owned learning solutions firm. With over 20 years of experience, LightSpeedEdu specializes in providing learning deliverables through eLearning course design, development, and production, in addition to animations and multimedia videos. Mr. Oneal is responsible for the overall business development and growth of the company, consulting with clients to develop eLearning and multimedia communication strategies. He has a strong background in marketing, sales, communication, and training & development, having led sales, marketing, and scientific affairs teams at companies like Merck and Co, Inc., and Bayer Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Oneal is known for his ability to develop and lead teams, as well as his excellent interpersonal skills.
In addition to his role at LightSpeedEdu, Mr. Oneal has been actively involved in various organizations. He has been a member of the Diversity Alliance for Science (DA4S) for over 10 years. In September of 2023, DA4S honored LightSpeedEdu with the prestigious “Supplier of the Year” award. This recognition underscores the firm’s unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and delivering outstanding products/services to meet clients’ needs. He served on the Board of Directors of the Greater New England Minority Supplier Development Council and was elected Chair of the Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Input Committee. He currently serves on the Board of Directors Executive Committee of the National Minority Supplier Development Council, due to his re-election as Chair of the National MBE Input Committee representing the voice of 18,000+ certified MBEs. Mr. Oneal is a highly educated individual, having graduated Magna Cum Laude from North Carolina Central University and completed post-baccalaureate studies at the University of Maryland. He has also obtained certifications from prestigious institutions such as the Mendoza School of Business, Notre Dame University, the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University, and the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington.
Amedeo Pineta
Amedeo Pineta, Sr. Director Global Procurement – Center of Excellence
With approximately 25yrs of experience in supporting Source to Pay functions, Amedeo has a deep knowledge of what it takes to have a successful partnership across the supply chain. At his current role at Teva Pharmaceuticals he manages the Procurement Center of Excellence which is made up of S2P Process & Performance Excellence, Learning & Development, S2P Programs, Procurement Compliance & Risk Management, Sustainability and Supplier Diversity. Prior to Teva he was at MorganStanley as the IT Business Partner for Procurement, Finance and Market Data. He has also held various S2P roles at Pfizer, Merrill Lynch and Deloitte Consulting.
Francesco Prandoni
Francesco has more than 15 years’ experience working in a wide variety of corporate leadership roles in procurement and supply chain in IBM, M&M/Mars Inc. and Bed Bath and Beyond, in Europe and in the US.
In 1999 Francesco co-founded Doc events, an event marketing agency, specializing in the Life Science industry. Doc events is now a recognized diverse agency, HubZone, WBENC and WOSB certified, specializing in in-person, hybrid and virtual, corporate meetings and events, with offices in New Brunswick, NJ and in Florence, Italy.
Since 2018 Francesco has supported the DA4S as member of the marketing team:
Francesco’s ability to manage multidisciplinary tasks in different business areas, was instrumental in the development of different start-ups.
Francesco was a co-founder of Sky Blue Soccer FC team, the NJ/NY franchise the US Women Professional Soccer league and winner of the 2009 championship!
He is a co-founder and CEO of Eventboost.com, a virtual event and registration platform.
Francesco sits on the Board of the Rutgers Healthcare Analytics and Intelligence Advisory Board.
He has volunteered in different association, local chambers in NJ. He also coordinates Doc events’ efforts in the HubZone of New Brunswick to establish a community outreach program for young, disadvantaged students and provide, training, internships, and job opportunities in the event marketing category.
Ann Ramakumaran
Ann Ramakumaran is the Founder and CEO of Ampcus Inc. Ann is a technology-savvy entrepreneur with more than 20 plus years of design, development, and delivery of innovative and leading-edge Technology Solutions and Human Capital Management across the globe. Under her leadership, she has cultivated Ampcus and Ampcus group of companies into a fast-growing Consulting and Professional Services organization. For eleven consecutive years, she has been recognized as a top Asian American-owned business by USPAACC and for over twelve consecutive years honored as one of the 50 Fastest Growing Women-Owned and Women-Led Business in the CONUS by the Women Presidents Organization. He has extensive experience in conducting security assessments, implementing security controls, and developing comprehensive security programs. John is well-versed in the latest security technologies, including threat intelligence, encryption, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
In addition to his technical expertise, John is also highly experienced in incident response and crisis management. John has helped numerous organizations quickly and effectively respond to security incidents, minimize damage, and restore normal operations. His experience working with the FBI and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has given him a unique perspective on the challenges faced by organizations in the public and private sectors and has equipped him with the skills and knowledge necessary to help them succeed. David Ricciardi
David Ricciardi is the President & CEO / Founder of Proximo. He founded Proximo, an information services company, in 1997, to help clients with data strategy, data warehousing and integration, and predictive analytics and business intelligence.
David began his career as a software engineer at what is now J.P. Morgan Chase. This was followed by several years as a consultant in the financial industry, including as an employee of DRT Systems, the technology subsidiary of Deloitte & Touche. Prior to founding Proximo, David acquired international experience developing customer and marketing databases in the automotive industry. He holds a B.S. in computer science and a minor in mathematics from Hofstra University.
Cindy Towers
Cindy Towers is Co-Founder and CEO of JURISolutions Legal (JSL), an award-winning legal services innovator and one of the largest WBENC-certified alternative legal service providers (ALSPs). Since 1997, JSL has specialized in the development and strategic utilization of legal talent, and JSL’s newest service line, jurisADVANCE, offers customized DEI solutions specifically designed to improve diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the entire legal ecosystem.
Cindy is committed to advancing diversity in business and in law. She regularly mentors diverse owned law firms, serves on numerous DEI committees, and is a frequent speaker on improving diversity, equity, and inclusion in both law firms and corporate legal departments. Cindy serves as Vice Chair of the WBEC East Board of Directors, is a multi-term Board Member of Women Owned Law and the SBA Regulatory Fairness Board, and is an active member of Women Influencing Public Policy (WIPP) and WBENC. JSL is a Corporate Partner of the NGLCC and Cindy serves as Co-Chair of the NGLCC’s National Legal Industry Council (NLIC). Cindy and JSL have been recognized by numerous awards for their work including Woman Entrepreneur of the Year, The Best of the Bar, Best WBE Mentor, WBE Leadership Award, LGBTQ Hero, Done Deals Award with Diverse Owned Businesses, and DEI Leadership Award.
Nicole Van Valen
Nicole Van Valen, M.S., L.M.F.T. is a distinguished leader and speaker with over two decades of experience in healthcare, behavioral health, and entertainment. As Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Keane Insights, she drives growth and vibrant cultures in social service and healthcare organizations. Her transformative leadership focuses on enhancing resilience.
With a background in dance, including roles with the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders, University of Miami and Miami HEAT dance teams, Nicole inspires resilience in and out of the workplace.
She has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy, and also studied Organizational Leadership specializing in Human Resources. Her commitment to inclusive leadership is highlighted by her Senior Certified Professional credentials from SHRM and expertise inclusive Workplace Culture.
Residing in South Floriday, Nicole is a wife and mother of three, navigating complex challenges with grace. Her leadership style, rooted in empathy and effectiveness, shapes organizational cultures with love, joy, and spirit.
Jennifer Willey
Jennifer Willey launched Wet Cement in 2017 to help cultivate inclusive, empowered and equitable cultures that drive growth, innovation and loyalty through keynote speaking, training, coaching, and strategic consulting. Wet Cement works with Fortune 500 companies, start-ups, and global associations, focusing on the ‘Fearless Fundamentals’ of confidence, communication, connections, control and culture. Jenn is a global Keynote Speaker and Content Creator–Fearless in 5 is her career-enhancing microlearning video series that helps business professionals learn how to be more fearless at work and in life. In the past year, she keynoted the NJ Conference for Women, was recognized as the inaugural ‘Driver of Diversity’ from Captivate, and named the “Woman of Achievement” by the Princeton Mercer Chamber of Commerce. Jenn is honored to have led sessions at the annual conferences for the Society for HR Managers (SHRM) in New York, New Jersey (Garden State), and Florida.
Her company’s gender equality practice, Advance Women at Work, offers empowerment programs for female employees and Inclusive Leadership Training for all managers. Jenn’s commitment to supporting women professionally extends to her roles as the Inclusivity + Innovation Advisor to Comexposium Japan, and as the Subject Matter Expert and Advisory Board Leader for the global Women’s Empowerment Initiative for the Digital Out-of-Home Industry (WE.DOOH) through DPAA. Before launching Wet Cement, Jennifer spent 20+ years leading sales, strategy, and marketing for innovative tech and media companies, including Yahoo, The Trade Desk, AOL, and WebMD. Jenn brings a unique perspective to public speaking and communication, given her experience as a journalist and on-camera talent earlier in her career. She served as a television news anchor and reporter for ABC and CBS affiliates. She first learned how to command a room when she was initially certified as a Fitness Instructor more than 30 years ago, and today still combines her love of empowering and motivating others to achieve their potential, by teaching at Crunch Fitness.
Jenn is proud of her efforts supporting the Diversity Alliance for Science, where she serves on the Membership Committee and co-founded SPIRAL, Supplier Partnerships for Insights Relationships and Learning. She also volunteers tirelessly to promote women’s advancement. Wet Cement donates both time and financial support to the non-profit Working for Women; trains certified Women-Owned Businesses on Confident Communications and Sales for the Women-Owned Business Enterprise Council (WBENC)’s SAGE Program; serves on the committees for ‘Seat at the Table’ and ‘Salute to the Policymakers’ through the Executive Women of New Jersey; and is a founding member of the Enrichment Committee for Impact100 Jersey Coast, a local organization for female philanthropists. Jenn was also the founding chairperson of the WebMD Women’s Leadership Network and a founding member of the AOL Women’s Network. She previously served on the Board of the Alliance for Women in Media.
Jenn graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Communications, and earned her Diversity and Inclusion certification from eCornell. Robin Whitsell
Robin is the founder and president of Whitsell Innovations (WI), Inc. In 2006, she started WI as a consulting firm and hired the first employee in 2007. She subsequently grew WI to the thriving company it is today, with over 70 employees in >20 US states.
Ms. Whitsell has >25 years of life science industry experience, including expertise in clinical development and medical writing submission strategies. She is a frequent speaker at venues such as the DIA annual meeting, the DIA Medical Affairs and Scientific Communications Forum, and the American Medical Writers’ Association Medical Writing & Communication Conference. She has served on the Annual Meeting Program Committee for the DIA for the last 6 years. On behalf of the DIA, she has hosted medical writing training sessions in China, Romania, Israel, Indonesia, and the US. In 2021, she hosted a 3-day intensive via zoom on CTD submissions for Sindusfarma/ANVISA.
Prior to founding WI, Ms. Whitsell was the assistant director of preclinical & clinical development at Inspire Pharmaceuticals (where, over a 5+ year period, she led a single compound from submission of the investigational new drug (application) to submission of the new drug application to the FDA), a team leader at GlaxoWellcome (now GlaxoSmithKline), and a CRA at Parexel International CRO.
Ms. Whitsell was the 2020 DIA MASC Excellence in Service (Medical Writing) Award winner. She was also awarded the 2019 Linda Secola Volunteer of the Year award (nominated again in 2023) and was a 2022 and 2017 (inaugural year) winner of the “Eight that Innovate” competition with the Diversity Alliance for Science (DA4S). Ms. Whitsell was named a 2016 “Remarkable Woman” by Chapel Hill Magazine and was a 2011 winner of the Count Me In pitch competition for entrepreneurs. She teaches a course in clinical development and regulatory writing at Howard University. Ms. Whitsell holds degrees in biophysics and physics from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and interned at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Barbara Wilson
Barbara Wilson is the Vice President of Technology Programs at Ampcus. She is a key player in building out Ampcus’ State, Local, Higher Education, and Utilities (SLED+) vertical. Previously, she was the Information Technology (IT) Officer for Metro Water Recovery in Denver, CO. Her responsibilities at the utility included both enterprise business services and operational technology (OT). She led major initiatives in IT planning, wireless connectivity, data management, cybersecurity, and IT Service Management.
Barbara also served as the Senior IT Manager at the City of Fort Worth Water Department (2006-2013) in Texas. Before working in government, Barbara worked at a software company in Philadelphia that built platforms for Investment Banks and trading firms.
Barbara received her master’s in public administration from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas and her undergraduate degree from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA.
Jason Wykoff
Jason helps companies explore all available routes to achieve decarbonization globally in line with corporate sustainability, economic and brand goals. With a particular focus on renewable electricity, client projects include portfolio strategy development, procurement and implementation, risk mitigation and ongoing performance tracking and reporting. Jason’s primary focus is on North American and European markets, with an eye on developing global opportunities. He is known for his skill at assimilating and conveying nuanced topics concisely to enable key stakeholder alignment and decision making. As corporate goals expand to include scope 3 and supply chain emissions reductions, Jason has taken a leadership role in helping industry peers collaborate on supplier chain renewables initiatives as well to close the gap on scope 3 GHG reductions.
