Committee Information
A great way to get involved as a member of our organization is to serve as a volunteer on one of our committees. Committees provide you a chance to demonstrate your skills/talents while working with other DA4S members. Committees are an annual commitment and meet regularly via virtual meetings.
We are currently seeking volunteers specifically for our Workshops, Speaker, Marketing and Communications Committees. If you are interested contact us.

- Committee meets virtually twice per month or as needed
- This committee manages the DA4S Mentorship Program through the education, application, and matching process. Throughout the year, the committee provides on-going support with the mentorship class
- Volunteers on this committee must have gone through our Mentorship Program
- Must be available to attend the West & East Coast Conferences for onsite support
- This is a hands-on, year round, active committee. Tasks are delegated per the committee meetings and discussions
- Committee meets every other week
Time Commitment: Approximate 4 – 5 hours per month
Committee is separated into sub groups:
- Webinars – research and select appropriate webinars to provide our members for the year.
Confirm webinar presenters and coordinate logistics with the Executive Director. - Attend the webinars and analyze survey feedback to report back.
- Member Days – identify activities/sessions to provide our members at both East and West conferences. Finalizing logistics working
with the Executive Director. - Member Engagement – Identify ways to engage with members and non-members at events.
- Member Communication – Coordinate with marketing and develop regularly scheduled communication
(blogs, member spotlights, etc.) specifically for our members. - Identify new companies to refer for Membership
- Committee meets twice per month
- Webinars – research and select appropriate webinars to provide our members for the year.
Time Commitment: Approximate 4 hours per month.
- Ideate = develop event theme, related topics, experiential components, bring ideas for sessions
- Produce = prepare speakers, facilitate rehearsals, provide on-site event support
- Committee meetings occur once or twice per month
Time Commitment: Approximate 1 hour per month
- Develop and discuss ideas and options for Community Outreach opportunities
- Identify Schools/Students to participate
- Determine amount of funds to donate and in what form (STEM Camps, Student Sponsor, Classroom Support, etc.)
- Identify schools to donate funds and determine amount of funds to donate
- Preferred that volunteers can attend our conferences to support and assist any activities committee schedules
- Solicit donations or prizes for our Raffle / Tricky Tray for our conferences
- Conference support is needed at the East Coast event with setup of raffle prizes
- Committee meets every 6 weeks
- Review current applications, refine, update and finalize applications for the current year
- Review all nominee applications and make notes on each
- Come prepared to meet with the committee to discuss and review each nominee under the separate categories
- Vote on recipients for each category
- Must be able to attend the West conference to assist in award ceremony and coordinate all the recipients after they receive their award for photos and video interviews
- Committee meets 5 times per year
- Identify appropriate workshops to offer at our conferences
- Recruit the appropriate panelists for the workshop/s
- Write workshop description for the website and program
- Collect Bios & Photos and coordinate all virtual rehearsals prior to the event
- Onsite support for the workshops – working with the team and panelists.
- This committee is divided into sub teams and each team is responsible for working on their assignments following our event timeline
- Committee meetings vary depending on your sub team
- Identify strong and appropriate guest/keynote speakers that fall within our budget
- Committee discusses options, selects key speakers for events coordinating with the Executive Director
- Once speakers are confirmed, coordinate intro call prior to conference to finalize logistics and answer all questions
- Coordinate = Secure speakers; Coordinate development of event content and materials
- Confirm PPT and AV needs
- Provide onsite support welcoming the speakers
